Albert Bonsfills, 1982. Lived in China and Japan intermittently between 2011 and 2019. Rooted in a strong documentary and social perspective, his work also blends intimacy with irony, reflecting a deep attraction to stories that reveal how people adapt to the harsh conditions of life with remarkable courage. Drawn as well to the cultural expression of contemporary society, his photo reports move between the social perspective and a more personal, intimate gaze. With a strong appreciation for poetic aesthetics and a keen eye for composition, Bonsfills creates images that resonate both visually and emotionally, offering layered narratives that bridge cultures and experiences. Bonsfills lives currently in his hometown, Barcelona, where he keeps working on his personal projects and commercial work for clients and magazines. His work includes collaborations with National Geographic, Bloomberg Businessweek, TIME, Newsweek, The New Yorker, The New York Times, Moleskine, WeTransfer, Amazon and Airbnb, and nominations to the Magnum Foundation’s Emergency Fund and the Joop Swart Masterclass.
