Annette Apel is a Berlin-based photographer and Creative Director with a background in international advertising and design. Born in East Berlin in 1970, she emigrated to West Germany as a child and later studied Visual Communication in Mainz. After a decade as an art director in Frankfurt, she returned to Berlin in 2007 and began her photography career in her late 40s. Her work is shaped by a lifelong habit of documenting her surroundings with a subjective, intuitive camera and a strong graphic sensibility rooted in her design background. Today, she balances her photographic practice with her ongoing work as a Creative Art & Design Director.
